HMV Model 163s

HMV-Model-163s-always-wanted.

The 163 was HMV's smallest re-entrant and was manufactured from 1927 until 1931

It sold very well in both oak (shown) and mahogany versions, the latter with a horn-covering fretof overlapping curved elements making 'diamond' shapes.

Important elements to look for in these are undamaged polish, unblemished fret cloth and the correct HMV soundbox, on the back of which should be marked '5A.'

Any of these faults can be overcome, but with a financial penalty. I will, however buy them in any condition at a price for parts and also just empty cases as long as the polish is good.
