Eagle-eyed readers may think they have seen this machine before.. well yes, and no... I did, in fact sell a similar base bu retained this horn for the present, better example of this late 1920's machine, later sold with plano-reflex arms right up to 1932 as the Model 2a.

I don't usually take on re-motored machines, but this one has been sensitively done using a turntable with period, vertical edges and minimal disturbance to the original case. The horn paint is very good, as sen.

Reserved at Christmas by a customer who didn't understand that he couldn't play his vinyl 33's on it... this pretty oak 123a plays beautifully. Now it is back on offer again.

(The differential colouring inside and out represents sun-fading and not a re-polish)

Decca's answer to the HMV 163 at a fraction of the price but with excellent sound as Decca, too, goes for a horn that occupies almost all of the available cabinet space.

Very good original polish. Doors slightly sprung at the base but not noticeable. Extra images here.

Currently sporting a nickel reproducer in its otherwise 'gold' interior; this should be correctable as soon as I can find an exchange part to correct the situation. This is the classic 'Laboratory Model', here in mahogany with original polish.

So-called 'Laboratory Models' were individually auditioned before being released to dealers from the Edison factory.

The faults are not what you might think...this (1922-1927) Baby Console is mechanically fine but some wally has taken out the disc divisions in the right-hand storage compartment, leaving it as an empty void. Otherwise the case is without damage or worm and in its original polish.

If you want a machine simply to play Diamond Discs, this could be for you! More images here.

Another of these (7-foot!) monsters. Works very well and has an unusually good record-shelf interior to offset the poorly plated exterior parts. My attitude to these is always to leave them as 'faded glory'. They were, after all, utilitarian machines.

Pretty little Zonophone with a single-spring motor which nevertheless plays two average ten-inch sides on one winding.

The soundbox is the original and correct Zonophone 'Junior Exhibition'.

The horn paint is original although 'pocked' with rust-marks, as seen. However, this is much preferable to a repaint and maintains the original 'feel' of the complete machine. Only the turntable-felt has been replaced

This machine was reserved at Christmas by a customer who thought it would play her LP's. This is happening to me increasingly; how quickly our understanding of period technology escapes us! So- now back on the market.

The Pathe Elf often has a reflector-bowl made of recycled Pathe discs. This example, however, has a brush-grained pressed steel one set in a wooden frame. The winding-handle is an accurate French reproduction.
