Sadly re-motored but SO decorative; a genuine Indian machine marked for a Singapore dealer both on the case and horn.

Not yet ready for sale, but placed here early as I have so little disc stock ready for photography!

Complete with record tray and original untorn carrying-strap. Excellent plating.

The image here is a little over-flashed, giving an impression of the colour paler than in reality.

Typical example of this classic little machine. All parts are original. Nice plating.

The carrying-handle original, too, although a little 'thin'.

A little 'tired', but interesting for being a prewar example of the type. The horn and swivel-mount is made of wood rather than metal and the soundbox has an open, mica diaphragm. Small plating faults. Works well.

Scarce HMV Model 111 RESERVED

Not very different in appearance from the Model 109, but in 1924 HMV saw fit to ask a hopping £16 (as opposed to the 109's £12) for the extra quality in cabinetwork.

Handsome, serviced machine which will give you hours of summer (and then winter) fun! Plays beautifully.

An 'honest' period machine with frankly poor plating on the back-bracket and arms and somewhat aged horn paint.

However, the machine is 100% original and plays well in all its faded glory. Notice that I have priced it £125 less than the red-horned machine sold last week.

A tidy little machine which works well. The outer case is without damage or stain, which makes the 'patches' on the record-flap all the less explicable. However, this is less evident 'in the flesh' as the image above was taken with fill-in flash.

French Cafe Automat RESERVED

Reserved and then dropped in favour of another machine! These monsters were not built for beauty as they were expected to take hard knocks inside and outside French cafes in the WW1 period and shortly afterwards. Before you ask, yes, that horn is original but machine-polished. I will guarantee its authenticity. although close-up it reveals clear signs of age.

Originally designed to operate on Napoleon III 10-centime pieces, they luckily were exactly the same size and weight as English pennies, of which I have many to give with the machine- down the right reign! The machine plays a treat.

Original Pye Black Box £350 CURRENTLY ON FILM HIRE

A bit of a departure for me, you might think! the original chinoiserie Black Box was introduced at Radiolympia in 1953- Coronation Year- at the outrageous price of 53 guineas.

Its high price resulted in poor sales and so the exotic finish was dropped in favour of the plain mahogany cased version at a mere 35 guineas- still a fortune at the time.

HMV record cabinet late 20's/early 30's RESERVED

These cabinets, made to complement the re-entrant range of gramophones sold poorly and are now quite difficult to find.

Each record rests without its sleeve on a grooved wooden bar which tilts when pressed from the front edge, causing the chosen record to roll out of storage.

This mahogany example is intended to match the mahogany 163,194 or 203 machines.

I have posted this a little hastily- the needle-screw has snapped off in the soundbox and must be drilled out and replaced. I will be doing this in the next few days.

(Please notice that the front two halves of the lid lock have been removed and lost). New ones will need to be found from another 'junk' machine. The outer case and motor are both fine.

Petite, charming, and currently being cleaned! The machine is completely original. The motor is a little noisy but I am hoping that with adjustment and lubrication that it will be a little quieter.

The small case size can be gauged from comparison with the 10" record on the turntable.

Early Odeon gramophone £875

Pre First-War machine with its correct Odeon soundbox and cast-frame motor (rather than steel-plate construction).

A chip in the turntable's lower edge is being repaired and is the machine's only fault.
