1910 German-sold HMV Junior Monarch RESERVED
Many continental-sold HMV's were nevertheless assembled in Great Britain and occasionally supplied at their destination with unique horns designed for the local market. Although there are significant paint losses on some panels, this brush-grained 'oak' horn is a rare survival and bears a good Deutche Grammophon transfer. A ticket in the base dates it to 1910.
The playing-arm has a dent visible near to the swivelling-point on the back bracket and there are marks on the deck suggesting that a 1950's electrical arm(!) was once fitted and removed.
On the plus side the motor runs surprisingly quietly for an HMV of this period and the case polish is original. The playing-arm has been replated at some time- not by me!
